5 Easy Steps To Make Chilli Olive Oil

Here are the steps on how to make chilli olive oil:

 

Step #1. Prepare the spices and aromatics

There are lots of variations when it comes to identifying what much better aromatics for chilli oil.

In some instances, you will need these such spices:

  • One cassia cinnamon stick
  • 3 ½ tablespoons of Sichuan chilli pepper
  • 6-star anise
  • Three bay leaves

  • 2-3 nuggets of sand ginger
  • One teaspoon of cloves

For deviating a typical chilli olive oil to a more flavorful condiment:

  • Garlic cloves, crushed, put as much as you want
  • 2-3 halved shallots

Step #2. Prepare the olive oil

Get a pot and put the olive oil and desired aromatics in it.

Set the stove to medium heat, and lower from medium-low to low heat.

The temperature of the oil should be 225°F to 250°F or 110°C to 120°C, which makes the oil boil.

If the spices seem to turn brown quickly, reduce the heat for the herbs to cool down.

For the best results, saturate the aromatics this way for about 30 minutes up to an hour.

While preheating, the aromatics you should look out for:

  • Using harder spices, the bubbling of oil should be constant, attached to the hard spice and rise

Step #3. Pour the hot oil into the pot with chilli flakes

Prepare your desired amount of chilli flakes in a heatproof pot, then pour the oil into it.

Make sure that you will use a fine-meshed strainer to drain the spices from the oil.
